Everything discussed in supervision, as well as any notes the supervisor keeps about the supervisee’s cases, remains confidential and will not be shared without the supervisee’s written permission.
The only exceptions are situations in which confidentiality may be legally breached, for example:
- if the supervisee discloses abuse or misconduct involving clients;
- if the supervisor’s records are requested by a court.
All cases presented in supervision must be anonymized. Please remove the client’s first and last name and, whenever possible, any other identifying information.
The supervisee is responsible for obtaining written consent from their clients to discuss their cases in supervision. If audio or video recordings are brought to supervision, separate written consent must be obtained for those recordings.
The supervisee is also responsible for deleting these recordings from the correspondence with the supervisor after supervision.
